Shops at Brookstone

Today I took my daughter (sans stroller) shopping in Arlington. We found a great little shopping "mall" with little boutiques in it. It's located at Norwood/Abrams and Bowen. We (meaning I) got to sample some different flavored margarita's, browse tons of handmade items including jewelry, clothes (for both), shoes, purses, candle holders, anything you can think of! One of my favorites was the zipper flower headbands.

I didn't purchase (again no stroller so shopped quickly and left without buying anything only to torture myself at the thrift store and the mall after) but have found some similar online and a tutorial to share with everyone!

Thanks Martha!

Carless Careless

Still no car, but we do have a check from safe auto. I hate car shopping, driving to different care dealerships, getting out, getting harassed by car dealers, looking around and finding maybe one thing I like in my price range, deciding if it's even worth test driving, either driving and not liking it or not driving it and getting back in the car, just to drive to another location and do it all over again. At least when I go to the mall I walk around for awhile before I decide I don't like something and the next place is right next door. Then I always feel stupid at car dealerships because I don't really care about the engine of a car, I'm a girl I have two questions: Is it pretty? Is it the right size? The rest I couldn't care about! Is it four or six cylinders, how many horsepower? Is it turbo charged? Super charged? After market anything? Exhaust system? What size are the tires? What do the rims look like? Agh! The stress of being married to a car guy!
Then all my dad cares about is the crash rating on them which just means more research on the computer.

Someone just shoot me! This carless thing is seriously cramping my shopping and therefore crafting style!

Whew!

This week has lasted forever! We were supposed to spend last weekend in Austin, but instead had to take a trip to the emergency room because Houston had a stomach virus.Which we found out was contagious. Kinzey had it on Sunday. Grandpa on Monday. I had it Tuesday and Wednesday (still went to work, just didn't eat for two days because otherwise I got to see it again). Aaron had it on Thursday. Grandpa had it again on Friday, as did Pawpaw. Kinzey stayed with Mamaw from Tuesday-Friday to keep her from getting sick again, so I didn't get to see her again until after work on Friday. Saturday was Halloween, so that was long. Started at six thirty to get dressed for work (went as a sk8er chick) and didn't end until after midnight with Houston and Aaron sleeping in my bed. Ah, homework day, I didn't miss you. Not looking forward to class tomorrow night. Debating on whether or not I will finish these journal entries tonight, or turn them in late tomorrow. Haven't had a moment to myself without being draped around the toilet in quite awhile. Off tomorrow though!

Day from, well you know!

So my day was supposed to go smoothly, i had lined up rides since I still don't have a check from Safe Auto. Everything was going to be taken care of, and transition correctly.
We woke up late this morning (9 am instead of 8 am) and Aaron could no longer drive me and Kinzey to the campus for my oral exam. Thankfully his dad just started his vacation so he was able to drive us. He is one of those people that has a gps but refuses to use it. So after taking a whole bunch of back roads since Aron also didn't want to take the highway, we arrive. I was set to arrive at 10:10 this morning. I arrived at 10:54. After wading through the pathways to my professors office, carrying not only my school bag and purse, but pushing Kinzey in a stroller with an umbrella only slightly big enough to cover the stroller seat, her diaper bag, my computer bag, and her carseat since the person dropping me off was not the same as the one picking me up. (Yes I had cleared it with my teacher to bring Kinzey prior). My mom, the one picking me up from the oral, calls right as I walk into my profs office to tell me she is on her way (still about 20 min away). After finally getting off the phone, since she's asked me to call my dad and tell him that mom is on her way to pick me up then we'll be on our way to lunch with him (so he can sign some car paperwork with me). I get off the phone, and even though Kinzey has sat quietly for an entire five minutes while I was on the phone with my mom, as soon as the teacher starts the stop watch to start our entirely french conversation, Kinzey has the urge to get out of her carseat and make noise. About halfway through our oral, her phone rings so she answers it and talks with them (in broken french). She hangs up and we finally get to resume our conversation (yes Kinzey sat still while she was on the phone). We finish and she tells me GOOD NEWS HERE, that she thinks I should be able to skip the next level of french and get straight to fourth year and that of course I passed my exam. Again I wade through the rivers to see my mom drive by about 50 feet before I get to the sidewalk. Call her and have to direct her back since apparently she was able to get lost between driving by me and my calling her. We all pack into her two door car in the rain, installing a carseat in the back seat is not my favorite past time. Go have lunch with my dad, file out paper work, get a notary, go to the mall. Mom and I search for a dress for Kinzey to wear to the wedding. Takes two department stores, but of course we are laden with bags becase mom always has to buy Kinzey something. Kinzey, instead of riding in her stroller, throws a temper tantrum if we do not allow her to push her own stroller. So of course we let her, but a thirty minute task takes us two and a half. We finish there and mom drives us to my house so my mother-in-law can later on pick up Kinzey and drop me off for my biology lab that starts at 5:30. I had planned on using my extra time to do laundry. Ha! Kinzey got to nap, and I needed to make sure everything was ready for class and a trip to the bank and post office. Mom gets there and has to let Kinzey try everything on, and chit chat with Aron. She leaves and Molly arrives a few minutes later. We load up, waking a screaming Kinzey from her only nap of the day. We go to the bank, then to the post office (let me note here that I don't mail things often, give me online or fedex any day!) had to have the cashier walk me through step by step on how to purchase a money order, make a copy, pack two seperate and different kinds of envelopes, and get them shipped over night. After spending forever there, we head to campus for class (different than the first) she drops me off and leaves to beat traffic. I get inside and the door is locked for my lab, thinking it's because I arrived a few minutes late, I email my teacher. Waiting on her response I spot the teacher that uses the room before my lab begins, he helps me to my professor's office where she is not and tells me that the 5:30 class was canceled at the beginning of the year (I was there today to make up missing Monday night). Oh great, it's still pouring down, I wasn't scheduled to be picked up until 8 and it's only 5:45. I call Molly but she has gotten herself and my daughter lost.  I call Aron and he has no clue where I am but knows where the Walmart is on the other side of campus and across a four lane street with half of it under construction. I tell him I can meet him there. In my new ugg-like boots, I hoof it across a rather large spread out campus. Make it to the street and walk to one light to go on the cross-walk, it's closed due to the construction. I walk the other way to the light to the north and it's closed due to construction. My only choice is to jay walk. So I run! Aron calls my just as my foot hits the sidewalk on the other side of the street. He's at Walmart. I start walking to the door, and he starts driving around the parking lot. We meet, I get in the car, and the only thing he can say is "You're all wet!" Yeah thanks. Next time I plan all day, remind me just to stay at home with a good blog and a cup of coffee.

Work

Just finished working an eleven hour day. I do not miss that!

Tomorrow I will be installing Olivia's blog layout, and then this weekend I will be supply shopping so I can start/finish a bunch of projects I have going on right now. I'm hoping to find a sewing machine for around $50. We shall see!

Made the best pork tenderloin today. I put it n the crock pot at eight this morning and seasons with lowery's hotshot (blend of black and red pepper) and topped that will grill seasoning (onions, garlic, salt, pepper, misc) Two cans of tomato sauce and carrots and just ate it at nine. Wonderful! I did not want to share it with anyone. And it was so easy, no one really had to cook or wait.

Off to climb a mountain of laundry!

October 16, 2009

Good Morning!

I'm putting my make up on getting ready for my first day back to a 40 hour work week. Yes I'm starting on a Friday, maybe that will help me ease back into the routine. I'm used to getting up early (I have already dropped the son of at school, gone to walmart for lunch box shopping, and given the baby a bath) it's the getting dressed up nicely enough for work in the short amount of time. I really don't want to get up any earlier, but I'm a mom, so I gotta right?

What is your morning routine like? I pack lunches at night to give me more time in the morning. I also plan outfits and breakfast the night before so everything is ready, and a sleep deprived Cris can throw it together without putting on two wrong shoes or forgetting my pants lol.

Tonight we're going out for sushi with friends, and Aaron has a soccer game. We've had Houston for the past two days because his mom has a birthday party to take him to tomorrow, so we won't get him until tomorrow night. Sometime before Monday, I must make a trip to the Botanical Gardens. Supposed to do this since the beginning of October, but it's been wet! Hopefully it will dry up enough to go for about an hour for class.

Maybe some car shopping this weekend, still waiting on a check from the insurance company to buy a new car with. Check out surelyliving's blog soon for a momnonstop blog layout!

Wow

So after working all day yesterday, I'm really liking how things are laid out around here. There are still a few things to be fixed and minute details I want to change, but ta-dah! Let me know what you think!

What am I doing?

As I sit here doing laundry, attempting to study for exams, and listen for Kinzey to wake up from her nap get Kinzey out of her crib from her nap, I think this is the best time to start my blog! This week is an exciting week for me, as midterms are today and tomorrow, I get to meet with Olivia about My Little Cutie Pie, I start my new full time job (gah back to 40 hour work weeks) but I think that will work out with my schedules, on top of being a mom to my children, and a wife to my husband.

I am super excited to have something for me. This blog and the business venture with Olivia will let me use things I know and love like decorating, making tutus, and painting, as well as help me learn a few things and hone other skills like sewing and pattern making. I can't wait to get started. So without further adieu, what am I working on at the moment?

The Davis Plaque!
It's not finished yet, but here is what I have so far! And please note I know the edges are bad right now, learned a few things on this one!

I also wanted to note that these flowers we bought to decorate during Kinzey's birthday party on Sept. 26th still look amazing!

So I'm off now, to finish up my never ending list of to-do's and  hopefully fill my brain with all the testing information for today! Wish me luck! Oh and tell Aaron thank you for taking care of Kinzey while I work!

Precious.

Sharing is caring!
